We welcome the news of a dedicated adolescent health unit in the new Health New Zealand structure. The health needs of rangatahi are different from those of children and adults. Having a dedicated unit to ensure we meet these specific health requirements during a crucial developmental window and are enabled to deliver services in a holistic and youth-friendly way is an important step towards improving the wellbeing of young people in Aotearoa.
